PURPOSE-DRIVEN, PASSION, INTEGRITY & EXCELLENCE
CHRISTIAN K. OSEI
Hello, and welcome!
I am a PhD student in Public Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in applied microeconomics, development economics, and health economics. My research focuses on how social protection programs, and public policy interventions shape household welfare, health outcomes, and economic resilience in low-income settings, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
My work combines rigorous causal inference methods, including experimental and quasi-experimental approaches, as well as machine learning techniques to generate policy-relevant evidence. I am particularly interested in understanding who benefits most from social programs and why, with the goal of improving the design and targeting of interventions.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research at the University of Ghana, where I contributed to large-scale impact evaluations and policy-oriented research projects supported by organizations such as the World Bank, IFPRI, and UNICEF. This experience shaped my commitment to bridging academic research and real-world policy impact.
Across my work, I aim to contribute to evidence-based policymaking by producing research that is both methodologically rigorous and practically relevant for governments and development partners.
