The Psych Report
Welcome to my website! Below, I've organized some resources that may be helpful to the staff, students and parents I work with in my role as a school psychologist!
What is a school psychologist?
In this video, which is geared toward students, I explain what I do as a school psych. The job of a school psychologist varies dramatically state to state, district to district and school to school. Our national association (NASP) describes our the domains and skills we receive training in here. For me, and for many of my colleagues, the main part of our job is Special Education evaluations. This means doing a lot of testing (cognitive, behavioral, academic achievement), observations and collaboration with colleagues to understand students needs and determine if they qualify for an IEP. I created this website to house resources I've created for teachers and families I work with.
A list of resources to start with if you are seeking counseling or psychological services outside of school in Washtenaw County
Monthly newsletters with information about Special Education and mental health topics, created for teachers and school staff
A new monthly column answering questions submitted by parents
Charlene Mangi, School Psychologist
I am a school psychologist working in a large school district in Michigan. I received my Masters in Education in School Psychology from UC- Santa Barbara and am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. I created this website to house my monthly "Psych Report" newsletters, which I have written for staff at my school buildings. All content posted represents my opinion, based on my training and experience, and should not be interpreted as the views of my district or any other agency.
