In 1905 Las Vegas was founded, a small town that was just established as a stopover for trains travelling between Las Angeles and Salt Lake City. Gambling remained outlawed but there were some underground casinos that still operated.

The 1960s to Now: The Vegas We Know Today

The second half of the 20th century in Las Vegas was marked by growth in Las Vegas’ population, the number of resorts in the city, and the size of the resorts themselves. Familiar names, such as Howard Hughes and The Rat Pack, helped shift Las Vegas’ image from an outlaw Wild West city to the one we know today.

Between the late 1800's and the beginning of 1900's gambling was brought to the area now known as Las Vegas. Explorers and seekers, during the California gold rush, settled in the area and started their gambling practices. But a nationwide crackdown on gambling all but eradicated gambling establishments from the area.

The 1980's and 90's saw the rise of the big resorts that make up much of Vegas today, such as the MGM Grand, the Bellagio, and Treasure Island. And although Las Vegas, along with the rest of the country, saw some economic downturns in the 2000's, the city is back on its way to growth. While the city sets its sights on new ways to bring people to the area–with focus on renewable energy and the city’s surrounding natural features–the casino industry will always play a large part in the city’s history. 카지노사이트

Casinos and entertainment remained Las Vegas’ major employer, and the city grew with the size of the resorts and the numbers of annual visitors. In 2008, even as residents faced recession, rising unemployment and a housing price collapse, the city still received nearly 40 million visitors.
