About Me
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Science at Virginia Tech and director of the Learning and Development Lab. I received my Ph.D. in May 2017 under the direction of Dr. Nicole McNeil in the Cognition Learning and Development Lab at the University of Notre Dame. Following my Ph.D., I completed two years of postdoctoral training in the Cognition and Learning Lab at Purdue University.
Research Program
In my research, I aim to understand mechanisms of learning and determine how to optimize the learning environment to improve children's understanding of key concepts. My primary focus is within the domain of mathematical cognition in early and middle childhood.
