Approach to Providing Unbundled Legal Services:
My approach is to provide clients with affordable access to justice, while maintaining a standard of legal excellence in their representation. As someone with a background in Sociology and Law, I know that socio-economic status can look different for everyone, and I strive to mend that gap in access to justice in each file I take on.
Mediation:
I have not taken mediation training. In the last 5 years I have acted as counsel in 5 or fewer mediations.
Approach to Supporting Clients in Mediation:
My approach is to assist clients in ensuring a fair settlement is reached, but avoid pressuring them to resolve all issues in the interest of time and fairness. I believe mediation is a good way to stay out of court, and preserve the client's finances, while also letting them make decisions about resolving their family law matter. My assistance would involve making sure the client's position is heard, that the client is well informed on any offers, ensuring calculations are correct and fair, and that the client is satisfied with the outcome of any agreement.

Cultural Diversity Experience:
I am Métis and have a significant background in work with Indigenous peoples. As such, I am well aware of Indigenous cultural norms and traditions (and if I am unaware of these for a specific group, I will inform myself prior to meeting with the client).
I have had several cultural and diversity training sessions in my work with the Manitoba Métis Federation, Allard School of Law, Equal Voice, the Louis Riel Institute, and the University of Manitoba.
