Approach to Providing Unbundled Legal Services:

I offer remote unbundled services accessible to people anywhere in the world dealing with family matters in either British Columbia or Alberta. My approach is to resolve the client’s issues as efficiently as possible. I work with the client to focus on what they see as a priority while also ensuring that the client is aware of the legal process and laws that affect their situation. I listen to my client's needs and break down the process step by step in an effort to reduce the stress and confusion often felt by people dealing with legal issues. Together, the client and I determine if unbundling is appropriate for them and set realistic expectations about the tasks the client and I will take on.

Mediation:  I am an accredited family law mediator. I completed my mediation training in 2023. I have acted as counsel in between 6 – 10 mediations in the last 5 years.

Approach to Supporting Clients in Mediation:

Before a mediation, I like to list the issues for my client so that we can discuss the importance of each issue. Sometimes the client realizes at this phase that some issues are actually already agreed upon or no longer important. We discuss possible outcomes, the costs of possible litigation if the issues cannot be resolved through mediation, and what is expected at a mediation. If I attend mediations, I am there to answer legal questions that may come up and to help keep my client on track.

Cultural Diversity Experience:

I have worked with clients from many different backgrounds doing legal aid files as well as private retainers. I volunteered at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and offered assistance in French and English to clients who are often unable to afford a lawyer. I received an intercultural certificate of competence from the Passport International Program at the Université de Moncton. I enjoy meeting new people from all over the world, which is why I am a volunteer support person for refugee students arriving in Canada. I also was fortunate to study abroad, which raised my awareness and adaptability for assisting and communicating with people from different cultures.
