2nd PhD/Postdoc Camp:
The Geometry of Stability Conditions

happened 2–6 August 2021, in the outskirts of Berlin, Germany

Welcome to this private summer camp for PhD students and postdocs, organized by
Jasper van de Kreeke and Tom Sutherland. For 5 days, we are going to exchange ideas and work on questions we are interested in.

About the Organizers  Jasper is a PhD student at the University of Amsterdam and works on stability conditions and deformations in mirror symmetry. Tom is a postdoc at the University of Vienna and works on the geometry of moduli spaces of stability conditions.

Accommodation  The event is hosted by Jasper’s parents in their backyard. The intention is to camp in the garden overnight. A few spare tents or a bed in the house may be available upon request.

Size  The aim is to have ca. 6 participants.

Requirements  You should be acquainted with stability conditions. Interest in e.g. moduli spaces, Teichmüller theory, Frobenius structures or DT invariants is helpful.

Working Mode  During the camp, we will work on small research questions in small groups. Jasper and Tom will help this get into its workings and keep an eye on everyone's wellbeing. You are also welcome to give a presentation on your current work.

Working Environment  We have a 1000m² garden at our disposal. Tables and chairs will be provided. There will also be a garden tent in case of rain or mosquito plague.

Research Questions  You are expected to send in some research questions in advance. They will form the basis of our common work. Your questions should be concrete and approachable and match the camp's theme. Some proposals:

• What geometric structures do spaces of stability conditions have (e.g. metric, flat or Frobenius manifold structure)?

• Can spaces of stability conditions and their geometric structures be glued (e.g. with respect to the co-sheaf property of a Fukaya category)?

• How do these geometric structures behave at the boundary (e.g. in the large volume limit)? How do they lead to compactifications of the space of stability conditions?

Location & Travel  Maxim-Gorki-Straße 14, 16548 Glienicke, Germany. You are welcome to arrive a day in advance and depart a day after the event.

Activities  For a break, try the trampoline, take a walk in the forest, watch the nearby horses or take a bicycle ride. For the evenings, you can bring games or your musical instruments (Jasper is joining on the cello). You can have a drink at the local ‘Koppelschänke’ café. If weather permits, we may also have a campfire.

Excursion  On Wednesday, we will have an excursion. It is not decided yet, but options include a bicycle tour in Berlin.

Facilities  Kitchen and bathroom are available. Generally meals will be provided, but you are welcome to help tidy up.

Cost  Participating costs 50€ for service, plus ca. 50€ for food. A certificate of participation will be available to facilitate reimbursement by your institute.

Covid-19  Making the camp comply with guidelines will be our shared responsibility. Try to get vaccinated before the event. It is expected that the camp can take place as planned, but please take into account that we depend on national measures. The organizers are not liable if the camp has to be canceled.

Our first camp in summer 2020.
