Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Zurich,EPFZ, Suisse.Pr. Dr. Abdeljalil Rusi El Hassani serves as the supervisor of the Applied Physics Research Team at the Faculty of Sciences & Techniques (FSTT). Prior to his current position, he held the title of Professor at Mohamed V University, Ecole Mohammadia d’Ingénieurs (EMI). With a distinguished 37-year career in atomic, nuclear, and particle physics, he has been actively involved in various projects. As an experimental physicist, his focus revolves around the study of elementary particles and their interactions.
During his tenure at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ), Pr. Dr. A.J. Rusi el Hassani dedicated considerable time to pionic atom experiments. Notably, he played a pivotal role in conducting groundbreaking research where, for the first time, L X rays in pionic ³He and 4He were measured with high accuracy. This research allowed for the direct determination of the strong widths of the 2p level of these pionic atoms and the measurement of the π° yield from the charge exchange reaction at rest π- + ³He → π° + ³H.
Pr. Dr. A.J. Rusi El Hassani has contributed significantly to the field, including the construction of a novel type of neutral pion π° detector. This detector addresses crucial requirements, particularly its low sensitivity to background radiation, primarily consisting of low-energy gamma rays and neutrons. He has been actively participating in many experiments at Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), sponsored by the collaboration, where a substantial number of Pion mesons are produced.
His extensive expertise is reflected in numerous scientific, technical publications, as well as literary contributions that he has authored or co-authored over the years.
