A Message from Andi
"Hello. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my campaign.
With 43 years working in public schools, education has been my life's work. I had the privilege of teaching for more than four decades and finishing my career as a vice principal. Putting to use my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education, my career brought me to diverse classrooms from Los Angeles to Tokyo.
Along the way, I served on school governance boards and participated in accreditation committees for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, bringing firsthand experience with the accreditation process that is so important to institutions like SBCC.
I am also an artist and dog lover. In addition to teaching art workshops for adult learners through various organizations, I participate in programs through the SBCC School of Extended Learning. I live on the Mesa with my sister, Ellen Stoddard, a retired SBCC faculty member who is finishing her term on the Board of Trustees.
Having been recruited by community leaders, I am running to represent the neighborhoods of Area 7 on the Santa Barbara City College Board of Trustees. I am at a point in my life where I have the time and experience to give back in this way and help make a difference for everyone who learns, teaches, and works at SBCC.
I am running to:
Safeguard SBCC’s financial resources so today’s students—and generations to come—benefit from exceptional educational opportunities.
Ensure that SBCC is accessible, inclusive, and safe for learners from all backgrounds and at every stage of life;
Prioritize cost-of-living considerations for our students, staff, and faculty in college decision-making.
I am the only candidate in this race with a K–12 education background, in addition to being the only candidate running with the support of the Democratic Party and a supermajority of the current SBCC Board of Trustees.
