Welcome! We are American Durable Roofing and we are a venture located in Nairobi, Kenya that makes culturally appropriate, long lasting tiles using sustainable materials at the end of their life-cycles to create low cost roofing to be used in affordable housing development. Thank you!

We are American Durable Roofing and we are a business started as part of the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship program at the Pennsylvania State University. We will be located in Nairobi, Kenya. Our business is focused on the intersection of affordable housing and environmental sustainability--issues of massive importance in Kenya and around the world.

We produce low-cost and light weight but extremely durable roofing tiles using locally-sourced discarded plastic material and local labor. Our interlocking and overlapping design allows for easy installation. Our affordable roofing solution addresses two problems at once - we reduce 1.6 tons of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plastic waste per month from the streets and dumps of Kenya while also cutting roofing costs of housing units by up to 30%, allowing developers in Kenya to make more affordable houses.
