Will window film make my building or home too dark?
Innovations in window film industry have introduced certain films that reject specific wavelengths of light (spectrally selective films), such as infrared, greatly reducing heat while still allowing much of the visible light spectrum to be transmitted through the window.
Will I be able to clean my windows after window film is installed?
After installation, a 30-day cure time is recommended before cleaning your windows. This ensures that the film has fully adhered to the glass, preventing damage from normal cleaning. Avoid using cleaning products containing ammonia as it may deteriorate the films protective scratch resistant coating or cause the adhesive to soften or deteriorate.
Windows with film applied are easily cleaned without damage to their appearance as long as a few common-sense guidelines are followed:
Use a soft clean cloth, soft paper towel, or clean synthetic sponge.
Use a soft cloth or squeegee for drying the window.
Use any normal glass cleaning solution which contains no abrasive materials or ammonia.
Can window film cause my windows to break or crack?
Only if the wrong type of film is installed on the wrong type of glass. This is why selecting a knowledgeable window film installer matters. Certain types of film have a high degree of Solar Absorption, which is very useful in proper application, but can wreak havoc on double-pane and Insulated Glass (IG) windows, causing the Solar Heat Energy to become trapped between the panes of the window unit, resulting in either seal failure or breakage. In addition, different types of glass (annealed versus tempered, clear versus tinted) have different solar absorption rates and will withstand different degrees of thermal stress.
Help! What are these bubbles in my film?
Often, following installation of film, tiny puddles of water will form beneath the film. The cohesive force of water causes the remnants of the slip solution used to install the film to draw itself into tiny droplets beneath the film. How long these droplets linger is contingent upon many factors affecting the rate of evaporation including ambient temperature, glass surface temperature, humidity, and sunlight exposure. Eventually, these droplets will dissipate. A true air bubble will appear white from the outside of the film, while residual water droplets will appear as a distortion (like a magnifying glass) and perhaps a bit off-color or hazy until fully cured.
