The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 20:8

Dear Parents,

Next week is the last week of school for the 2020-2021 school year. What a year it has been!

To celebrate our last week of third grade, I’d like to share some plans for your children so that you are aware of activities that require preparation.

TUESDAY, JUNE 1: “CAMPOUT DAY THEME”

ZOOMIES: You may decorate your zoom area to be a tent as long as you can still be seen on your camera. Additional items you will need:

Ø Several worms in a cup of loose soil

Ø Paper plates, paper towels, a small piece of black construction paper (about 2”x4”), a cup of water, a spoon

Ø Marshmallows, chocolate bar, graham crackers, a solar oven (instructions are posted on Seesaw)

Ø Flashlight, if desired, and a book to read

ROOMIES:

Ø Flashlight, towel to sit on, electronic device to use during a portion of the day

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2: “MOVIE MANIA” and “GAMES GALORE” DAY

ALL STUDENTS:

Ø A bottle of soda/favorite drink (must be in a plastic bottle – no cans)

ZOOMIES:

Ø A snack to munch on during the afternoon

THURSDAY, JUNE 3: “BEACH DAY”

ALL STUDENTS:

Ø Beach towel to sit on

Ø Winter gloves

ZOOMIES:

Ø Elmer’s glue (1 small bottle OR ½ cup), 1 tsp. baking soda, ½ cup water, 2-3 TBSP of contact solution (must contain boric acid), 3 TBSP play/decorative sand, bowl for mixing, spoon/fork for stirring, plastic container with lid or Ziploc bag

Ø Zip loc baggies (1 sandwich sized, 1 quart sized, 1 gallon sized), 1 cup of half and half cream, 1 ½ tsp. vanilla extract, 1 TBSP sugar, ¼ tsp. salt, ice cubes (enough to fill half of a gallon sized zip loc bag)

Ø Beach ball, tape (1 roll), plenty of pieces of paper (may be scrap paper, notebook paper, plain paper – not construction paper)

FRIDAY, JUNE 4: “STUMP THE TEACHER” DAY

ALL STUDENTS: Each student may come up with a math, reading, Bible, Social Studies, or Science related question to ask me. Your child must know the correct answer (and be able to explain it) so that he/she can check whether or not I am correct with my answers. If the class asks me more questions that I cannot answer correctly, and “stumps the teacher”, I will owe each child that participates a reward that will be included in the “end of year” bags that will be distributed at the end of the school day. ZOOMIES: Your bags will be available in the main lobby after 12:00noon.

I will be sending home a packet of summer practice pages that should be done over the summer months to keep your child thinking and practicing skills that have been learned this year. I strongly urge all students to practice and become proficient in their multiplication facts (up to 12 x 12). Reading for at least 20 minutes daily should be a routine followed by all students. And remember to worship regularly as a family.

May the Lord bless and keep each of you throughout the summer months. Thank you for sharing your child with me this year.

Sincerely in Christ,

Mrs. Gast

For our May devotions, we will use the song, "How Majestic Is Your Name" found on the youtube video above.

  1. The Lamb, the Lamb, O Father, where's the sacrifice?

Faith sees, believes -- God will provide the Lamb of price!

The Lamb is reigning on His throne!

  1. The Lamb, the Lamb, One perfect final offering.

The Lamb, the Lamb, Let earth join heaven His praise to sing. Refrain

So still, His will -- on our behalf the Law to fill. Refrain

Our February devotional prayer/song is:

Behold, What Manner of Love (song found below)

The words to this song repeat, and lend themselves to singing in a round. We will attempt this later in the month, but the round can be heard after the first time or two through the verse.

"Behold, what manner of love the Father has given unto us! (repeat)

That we should be called the sons of God." (repeat)

Our lunchtime prayer for February is: "Coca Cola Grace" (sung to the tune of the "Coca Cola song")

The sun will always shine, the birds will always sing. As long as there is God, there's always the real thing!

Jesus came to earth to die for our sins, and now we thank you, God, as this meal begins.

Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do -Amen!

Do-do-do-do-do-do - Jesus is the real thing!

Come and dine, the Master calls us, come and dine! AMEN!

Christmas Cheer opportunities

We are truly blessed! During this Christmas season, there are many families who are experiencing hunger, financial stress, and an inability to provide even simple gifts for their children.

WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP!

Third graders are being asked to bring the following food items that will be added to food baskets for 6 families (through the Lutheran Mission Society of MD) that are being sponsored by Trinity.

  • canned/boxed milk

  • salad dressings

  • boxed desserts

  • icing

  • breads

These items may be brought to school and placed in the grocery cart at your child's school entrance. VIRTUAL LEARNERS ("Roomies"): You may contribute by dropping off food items at the main entrance to the school.

Trinity is also collecting "TOYS FOR TOTS". We invite and encourage our children to bring UNWRAPPED NEW TOYS (a maximum value of $20) to school. These toys may be dropped in the boxes in the school hallways. VIRTUAL LEARNERS: You may contribute toys by dropping them off at the main entrance to the school.

All items must be brought in by Thursday, December 17.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, IN ADVANCE, FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
