Zurkpert - Korpata Profesul

Before you can learn about the language of the Book, first you must learn about the Speakers.

The Speakers are a group of ancient peoples who have inhabited the Earth, since Heaven sent life to it.
We look and act like other humans.  We are among you and you know it not.  In most things we are the same.
Yet there is one thing that makes us different.  One thing that sets us apart: We are Speakers of the Language of the Book.
The Book is powerful.  The Book brings us life.  Since the beginning we have roamed the Earth and as long as we have the Book of Prophecy, we cannot die.
At first there were so few of us.  We dwelled together in harmony.  We used the Book to bless those whose lives Heaven chose.
But we grew too big.  The discipline was lost.  Soon, access to the Book became limited.  Though all of us could Speak the Language, few of us had access to the Book.
Thus, we began to suffer; we began to age...we began to die.

War broke out for possession of the Book.  Several tribes and lines and factions formed.  The war was bitter.  There was no mercy given.
The T.E.D.O. and the Zurkpert were the last surviving lines.  I was a member of the T.E.D.O.  I was a leader in their ranks.  I ordered the last attack.
The Zurkpert's doom was sealed.  Their ways were not those of war.  Although we all were Speakers, only the Zurkpert knew how to truly understand the words that were spoken.
Only they knew the Prophecy.  Yet they knew that death was not the end for their line.  A small book they left, which contained their Lore.  I found it when I found the Book of Prophecy.
I handed over the Book to my superiors, but I kept the little book.  What harm could that have done?  Yet their Lore was keen inside my heart.  I had not known such concepts before.
I studied their ken; I internalized their Lore.  Many centuries passed but I finally learned what I had to do.  Though I could never repay my debt of blood to the Zurkpert, I could instead resurrect their Lore.

I took the Book.  I hid from them.  I waited.  I thought they all died.  But I was wrong.  They continued to recruit and train.  Yes their old leaders died, but new ones arose.
Their hatred for me and my little group of apprentices was kindled into the wrath of the everlasting fires of self-destructive vengeance.

The war broke out again.  Always we prevailed.  Always, until 200 years ago.  My most advanced apprentice, my poor Abie, the one we called ZurkDorsh.  She found a new line of study.
She studied the darker parts held by the Book.  She wanted to manipulate Time.  She wanted to right the wrongs of the past.  I warned her.  She did not listen.  In the end it drove her to destruction.
I lost her.  In my sorrow, came the T.E.D.O.  They took advantage of my weakness.  The destroyed my little band of apprentices.  But they could not destroy me.  I vowed then that I would hide forever.
No longer would I recruit apprentices.  Yet the book told me otherwise, and I continued to recruit, but no longer did I grant them immortality.  Instead I sent them out into the world.  After being so old, I was yet naive.
This was an error, which brought their ultimate death a mere twenty years ago.  I have not recruited anyone until now.  The Book speaks again.  Warnings of the final battle.  I recruited you because I must.
The final Prophecy must be fulfilled.  Destiny must be allowed to run its course.

That is enough for now.  Perhaps I have said to much...it is too late to change that now.  All has been decided; all is lost; all is gained.
Wait here for the next lesson.  Watch for the signs.  Study my words and learn what you need to know.

I am Tylean.  I am the Last.

Well done my apprentices. I will return soon with the next lesson. I'm glad the simple part is over. Fear not the scattering; we must let the path unfold.

In times of old I would have taught all until now over a few centuries. However, the time is far spent. I must prepare you quickly for the scattering that must come.

Rabbit Black - Jun 14, 2009 10:05 AM

Now let me be sober for one moment. I will prepare you and you will be ready. However, I have let you come here without completing the most basic part of the first lesson. Something so simple that it is unimportant in itself. Yet your ability to look within will bring forth fruits instead of wasted labor in the near future.
