History

 

ZORN, TEXAS. Zorn is on State Highway 123 thirteen miles north of Seguin in northern Guadalupe County. It was named for Joseph Zorn, who had a store there in the 1850s. A post office opened in 1891. By 1896 Zorn had two gristmills, a general store, and 150 residents. The population fell to 100 in 1933, to ninety-six in 1968, and to twenty-six in 1988 and 1990. The population reached sixty in 2000.

  

Zorn, Texas is located in Northern Guadalupe County, Texas on US Highway 123 approximately thirteen miles north of the town of Seguin, Texas.

 

The small town of Zorn was named for the storekeeper Joseph Zorn. In the late 1800s Zorn had a population of 150 and two grist mills. The present population is twenty-six.

 

Buried in Zorn is the Arkansas Democratic politician, Monroe Schwarzlose, who polled 31 percent of the vote as a protest against Bill Clinton in the 1980 gubernatorial primary.
