About Me

Hello. I am Emily Remmel. I am a senior at the University of Oklahoma. Presently, I am currently majoring in Zoology with an interest in particular aquatic feeding behaviors of zooplankton and Golden Algae. Next semester, I will be a graduate student at the University of Oklahoma. I am debating on what I want to do for the rest of my life, perhaps environmental law.

I study different Daphnia species (D. lumholtzi below) and their feeding behaviors on toxic Golden algae (Prymnesium parvum) in Lake Texoma, Oklahoma. I am interested in this research because there are many implications when this invasive Golden Algae blooms. Because of it's toxicity to fish, state agencies, governmental agencies, and universities are combining research efforts to potentially solve this environmental problem.
