About Me

I have been collecting dolls since I was a little girl and my mother loved dolls.  She is the short little girl on the right in the picture at the top of this page. Because of her appreciation of dolls I had many and I still have several of my childhood favorites.  I began newborning/reborning in 2005 when I was browsing on eBay and found a beautiful lifelike baby doll  that I felt I had to have.  The only problem was the $500 price.  But after reading the description of how the doll was made, I came to the conclusion that if she could do it, quite possibly I could, too!  So I began to look around for tutorials and classes.  Secrist Dolls was offering a class with Stephanie Sullivan, so I signed up, drove the 4 hours to the location in northern Ohio, and gave it a try.  My first doll, although quite flawed, was a complete success as far as I was concerned, and is still one of my favorites.  But I went on to take the teacher certification class, where I met several wonderful women.  As time went by we formed a guild, Reborn Artists and Educators.  I have made over 45 dolls.  It takes me about a month to complete a doll.  I also love to sew for my "babies" when I have time.

As a partially retired elementary and special education teacher, I find teaching newborning/reborning one of my favorite things to do.  It is so much fun teaching others how to bring vinyl pieces to life and seeing students happily carry a bundle of "baby" home.
