Hello! Christ is Risen! Thank your for visiting and I hope you find some information that will be informative. Let me give you a quick introduction so that you know where this material is coming from. My name is Zoe. I'm a Russian Orthodox Christian who is also a male to female transsexual. I do foremost regard myself as a Christian woman who is merely trying to find God. First off, let me warn you that this website does not offer groundbreaking theological development. In reality, I think it was something therapeutic for me to come to terms with my identity as an Orthodox Christian and a Transgendered woman. However, as it has taken me two years and much pain, grief, and sleepless nights to reconcile this two, I offer my reflections to perhaps save other women and men from the same. Let me also offer two disclaimers. First off, although, I do believe that Orthodoxy and the GLBT movement can be reconciled and should go hand in hand, mainstream Orthodoxy does not agree. The Archbishop of Greece even goes as far to call homosexuals a handicap. I just offer this as a warning so that you do not call up the local Orthodox rectory only to find a rude and/or disheartening response. However, there are some sympathetic priests out there and there are also open churches. Personally, I attend an independent parish. I just regard myself as Orthodox in practice and theology. Secondly, on my word usage. I am mixing transsexual and transgendered throughout my essays. I am not advocating a certain view due to my word choice. It is merely what word came to mind in that sentence. Also, I will mostly use the standard he instead of saying s/he, they, he and she, etc. I don't know if it is politically correct and one may find it strange that a woman transsexual may use it. In actuality, this was how I was taught to write and I'm not going to change it. I personally find it cumbersome. Finally, although I tried to cater bother men and women transsexuals, if one does find a male to female bias, it is merely because that is the only experience that I know how to write about. Now that I am done with the disclamers, please enjoy! |
