We are co-ed volleyball team and we know how to have fun!  Sponsored by Zion Lutheran Church, the Blue Smashers play in the Hummelstown Area Mixed Fellowship Volleyball League.  2012 marks our 17 th year of participation in the league!
Schedule  A three-game match is played on Thursday evenings May through August at 6:30 PM.  Usually several more unofficial games round out the evening to ensure we have a good workout and to maximize enjoyment of just playing as much volleyball as possible before sundown.  The season culminates in a year-end tournament on an August Sunday afternoon at St John's Church in Hoernerstown.  Check out the schedule for all dates.

Where  Visit the maps page for field locations and driving directions.  At the bottom of that page is a "Print page" link.
Try it out if you want to print that page; it produces a slightly better experience for your printer.

Play  Each match is begun with prayer, so that our play is grounded in fellowship and competition - inventions of the Lord God Almighty for which we give thanksgiving and praise.  Amen!  Games are played to 25 points using the "rally" scoring system.  Spiking is permitted (not that we've so far mastered that skill), while net fouls and carrying are often enforced.

Rules
The rules of the game - guiding play for over 15 years - have been compiled by the league coordinators in conjunction with the captains

Safety  It is the league's firm belief that God intends for us to play a competitive match while respecting the various skills and physical capabilities of the players.  Fun and safety are both of paramount importance, and yet are not mutually exclusive!

Join Us!  Interested in giving volleyball a try?  All skill levels are welcome, the restriction being that you must be 16 years of age or older.  Some of the existing team players can attest to the fact that there is no upper age limit.  Please contact us if you have any questions.  Or you could just come to any of the games with your sneakers and water bottle!
