Welcome to Dr.  Zengbo (James) Wang's personal mini website

My current:

I am currently a permanent academic staff (Lecturer) in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering (MACE) at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. My expertise lies in the fields of laser micro nano engineering, imaging and optical engineering.

Some of my recent research work has attracted wide public interests and media cover, see for example the 'world first 50-nm resolution white light nanoscope'  (first author) (pdf file). Google using keywords of 'microsphere nanoscope' (english) or '纳米级光学显微镜' (chinese) for news and media cover. This work has won me the first prize in a Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) poster (pdf) competition event in nano-engineering.

My future:

I like research and teaching so I believe 'a world-leading professor in optical nano engineering' is my future career goal. I am not a pure theoretical physicist so I am also expecting to set up my own company some day to commercialize my research outcomes.

My Education:

PhD in engineering, National University of Singapore (2005)  (link)
M.Sc in Physics,   Xiamen University, PRC              (2001)
B.Sc in Physics,    Xiamen University, PRC              (1997)

My favourite scientist:    Richard Phillips Feynman
