ARTIST STATEMENT

My art, is for me, an intense interior journey:an exploration based on personal and collective influences. Memory and heritage mingle with nature, archeology, science, art history, popular culture, feminism, psychology, and societal pressures , all as part of both the conscious and unconscious mix. The confusion of all these influences-the bombardment of numerous strong voices all fighting for dominance-are with me all the time and are the central theme in many of my works.

My creative process, dictated by my personal journey, is intuitive and gradual. The objects and the images reveal and transform themselves through a painful birthing process of refinement and change. Charged with aesthetic and conceptual messages not always intended originally, I use the design elements and personal symbolism, combined with the contradictions of juxtapositions of light and dark, presence and absence, delicate and brut, common and prestigious, etc. to convey the tensions inherent in our world and basic to many of my creations, sometimes triggered by an actual tangable thing, and another by an abstract idea and vision.
