Embassy blast in Pakistan
丹麦驻巴使馆爆炸8人死
A bomb exploded near the Danish embassy in Pakistan, killing at least 8, including 2 policemen, and wounding 24, 15 in a critical condition. The blast left a huge crater in the road in front of the embassy, wrecked about 30 vehicles, and destroyed some of the embassy buildings. The explosion appeared to be a car bomb, and most of the casualties are policemen and guards in charge of the embassy's security, police said.
2日，丹麦驻巴基斯坦使馆附近发生爆炸事件，造成包括两名警察在内的至少8人死亡、24人受伤，其中15人伤势严重。爆炸产生的巨大威力在使馆附近留下一个大坑，还有近30辆汽车被炸毁，使馆内一些建筑也遭到不同程度破坏。警方说，这是一起汽车炸弹爆炸，死伤者多为负责使馆安保工作的警察和保安。

The first cross-Straits charter flight for the Dragon Boat Festival from Taipei to Shanghai left at 7:30 am Tuesday. 7 carriers, including Shanghai Airlines and China Eastern Airlines from the mainland and 5 Taiwan airlines, will fly about 6000 passengers on 14 round trips between the 2 cities till June 15.
今年首趟赴上海的两岸端午包机今早7点30分从台北起飞。此次台湾至上海包机将持续到6月15日，由上海航空、东方航空2家大陆航空公司和华信、长荣等5家台湾航空公司共同承担，共计14个往返航班，预计运送旅客近6000人。

The drainage of Tangjiashan quake lake, scheduled to begin Tuesday, may be delayed as a result of the rising water level, which stood at 735.78m as of 2:00 pm Monday, up 1.24m from 24 hours ago, according to the disaster relief headquarters Monday. No major rainfall is forecast in the next few days, and experts suggest the drainage may be carried out around June 5.
据抗震救灾指挥部最新消息，截至2日14时，唐家山堰塞湖水位高程为735.78米，比24小时前上涨1.24米。因气象部门预测近日无明显降雨，水利专家测定泄洪时间可能推迟到5日左右。

The northeast branch of Sinopec has discovered a high-yielding industrial natural gas flow recently with a daily output of 110000 cubic meters and a daily absolute open flow of 300000 cubic meters in southern Songliao Basin in Heilongjiang. The discovery is another important breakthrough for the deep exploration of natural gas after a huge integral gas field was found in southern Songliao Basin.

A stall-keeper in Yuegezhuang market was fined RMB10000 by the Industrial and Commercial Department in Fengtai district, Beijing, Monday morning for providing free ultra-thin plastic bags to customers, becoming the first to be fined after the ban on plastic bags took effect on June 1.

The possibility of flooding from the Tangjiashan quake lake increased Thursday due to fresh landslides and higher than expected rainfall. Quake lake starts drainage
唐家山堰塞湖开始泄流
Water began draining from Tangjiashan quake lake Saturday. "Emergency work is still proceeding urgently, but in the foreseeable future there's no risk of the dam collapsing," Chengdu Military Region Deputy Commander Fan Xiaoguang said. Worries about the collapse of the lake dam drove authorities to evacuate more than 250000 people.

Exam cheaters jailed
天津高考作弊者被判刑
Jixian County People's Court in Tianjin recently sent 7 students to prison for cheating on the first day of the College Entrance Exam last year. One student, Yuan, received the stiffest sentence of 6 months. He obtained the exam contents from another student, Liu, via telecommunication tools, then got other students to complete it and then send the answers back to other examinees.
日前天津蓟县法院作出判决，7名高考作弊学生被判"非法获取国家秘密罪"获刑，其中在校生袁某获最高刑期6个月。07年高考第一天，刘某携摄像头将保密期的语文试卷传给袁某，在何某等人做好后，将答案发给多名考场内学生。

2 US Marines were each sentenced 3 to 4 years in prison Thursday for beating up a taxi driver and fleeing without paying the 2780 yen ($26) fare in Okinawa, Japan, this January. The incident was one of a series of crimes committed by US troops in Japan that has led to public outrage in the nation closely allied with US.(See photo)

On Friday, oil prices oil shot up more than $10 to a record $138.54 a barrel after a Morgan Stanley analyst predicted prices could hit $150 by July 4. Propelled by the jump in oil and a decline in the value of the US dollar, gold and silver soared Friday. August gold closed at $899 an ounce, up $23.50 on the session.

Police dogs should be considered civil servants and any act of violence against them will merit the same punishment as those on human police, Norway's Supreme Court ruled Thursday. This rule followed the release of a man who was earlier charged with attacking a civil servant after he struck a police dog last year. The defendant now risks up to 3 years behind bars.
