Welcome to 2nd Grade at Sycamore Creek Elementary! I have been teaching at the school since we opened in the fall of 2008. It has been such a rewarding experience to teach at a new school, especially with such an enthusiastic and helpful staff.
About Teaching
The 2009-2010 school year will be my 7th year of teaching. I taught for 3 years in Kindergarten in Savannah, GA. Then, I moved to 2nd grade in the same school in Savannah where I taught for a year. Upon moving to Raleigh in 2007, I was hired to teach 2nd grade at Hunter Elementary in downtown Raleigh. The news of this new school opening in North Raleigh intrigued me, so I came for an interview and was hired as a 2nd grade teacher at SCES. I absolutely love 2nd grade! I have the awesome experience of taking "little" children and preparing them for the upper elementary grades. There is so much growth that happens in 2nd grade, and I am so happy to be a part of it!
SCES is a great place to teach. The 2nd grade team is a wonderful group of people to work with. We collaborate often to share ideas that improve our teaching and enable me to grow in this profession.
About Me
I am happily married as of May 1, 2009! My husband, Dennis, and I love to go places together, eat out, gather with friends, and attend sporting events. He has gotten me interested in Red Sox baseball (he is from Boston), Carolina Hurricanes hockey, and NC State football. I am originally from Northwestern PA, so I will always be a Steelers fan for football!
My family lives in Pennsylvania. I have an older sister who is married with 2 wonderful little boys! She teaches middle school math. My younger brother is a police officer in a suburb of Philadelphia. My parents are wonderful role models! Whenever I am tracked out, I try to get home to visit.
