A 10hp el-outboard was built using a Mariner 15hp outboard rig:Motor assembled:Adapter box and shaft coupler:Gas Motor crankshaft end piece was used. Motor is Perm 132:Controller:Electronics box:Electronics box rear view:Note large 16" propeller diameter:Test boat:There is a Tornado catamaran hull as a center hull and two added small floats. Notes:1. Motor inside Mariner cover box gets too hot. More space around, or a forced ventilation is needed. 2. Perm 132 rotation direction is CCW. Voltages up to 48 only are guaranteed by manufacturer. Up to 72V in case of CW could be used. 3. Used test boat had a low wave generating drag, but it is not at all practical. In future a long and narrow mono hull is preferred. 4. Two blade prop caused too much vibrations. The prop should better be placed under the hull to avoid prop ventilation. 5. Up to 15 kn was achieved, but power consumption was high. 6. Next a 360 deg turning drive with propeller under hull is developed using Mariner lower section gear bulb. |
