This lesson: Wednesday, 16th February, 2011
Please make sure you have one of the sheets I have prepared as a check list for what is in your folder. You will find a copy of it on this site if you click here.
It is down to you now... the checklist is fairly complete and includes the sections that really, really should be there.
Remember, you do not get any marks for the idea... do not sweat over it trying to be frightfully clever and original. JUST GET IT DOWN!
This lesson, carry on making sure that you have everything done and put in my work postbox... or, even better, make sure that you This lesson: Tuesday,15th February, 2011
Thank you to all those parents/students who made an appointment with me last night.
If you are one of the few without an appointment, make an appointment with me this morning. See me. You know who you are (and so do I).
Get your folder in order. You will be bringing it tonight. It is always time better spent if we have something there to refer to.
The order is:
Analysis of task (spidergram, etc).
Analysis of your target market.
Product Analysis of an existing board game.
Specification.
Initial Designs of Board, Box (the box and the inside box insert to keep the items in place), Counters (and spinner if you have one).
Developments of the above, including photographs of your model, annotated. See me if you don't have a photograph.
A step-by-step guide of the order of manufacture.
1st february, 2011
If still not sure, assume board size: 28cm high, 40cm wide.
This lesson, before you do anything else...
Put your board design in my workbox. That is it for now, regarding time. We cannot move forward on it as long as it is only in your posession.
This lesson, we are to finish off the counters and the box. I have a sheet with me to help you with the box. Believe me, this IS the easiest way of doing it! The boxes shown as demonstrations are made using that method.
2nd November 2010
This lesson we will be doing for the counters what we did for the box. We will we doing a flow chart.
Below we have some examples of a process and some of the symbols:

The counters will be done as a flow chart. This lesson, we will be looking at the process of the box. This is drawn in 2D Design and cut out on the laser cutter. The laser cutter is a Gravograph LS900.
The chart will be drawn up in the same way as the one for the board.
The components of the box:
The Processes:
This lesson: 19th October 2010
Please do the plan of making for the board. It should include: Part, Equipment needed, Process, Risk, Solution Of Risk.
Have the list of components descending on the left hand side and the items listed above going along the top. There will be a demonstration of this on the board.
This Lesson: 12th October 2010
Please complete more development work. Do not forget to annotate what you do.
Annotation should include why you would/wouldn't use a certain idea.
You can find the example page for developments on the middle page 9 in the black 'Graphic products' book (the section with the blue line down the side of the page).
This Lesson: 6th October 2010
Please commence the development drawings. Do not forget to annotate what you do.
Annotation should include why you would/wouldn't use a certain idea.
You can find the example page for developments on the middle page 9 in the black 'Graphic products' book (the section with the blue line down the side of the page). Room: C8
It is important that we get the net drawn for the box this lesson. It will, unlike the drawings done yesterday, be the right size, not simply to scale. This is because it will be cut on the laser cutter straight from your drawing. Draw in 2D Designer, making all the lines in red as that is what the laser cutter recognises. if you want 'scored' lines so that you can fold along them, do dotted lines instead. Mr. Bower Tuesday, 21st september, 2010
This lesson, we need to get a final design for the box we are going to draw in 2D Design tomorrow. Look at your research of box constrruction and draw some ideas of corners, tabs, etc. Tomorrow (Wednesday) you will be in C8 and using the ideas you have developed today. Mr. Bower |
