Benjamin Franklin O.R.E.O. Project
Gifted Resouce Kids Create Oreo Towers and Sculptures
First of all we are most grateful to the parents who donated these delicious Oreo packets for our online O.R.E.O.Project. It was because of their generosity that we were able to participate in this awesome project. Ben.Franklin kids got to stick and stack oreo cookies. The children worked indoors and outdoors. They worked in pairs counting and tallying the cookies before they tumbled. Each child got two chances to try their hand at constructing a cookie tower. Our multi-age gifted class kids worked together. The fifth and sixth graders helped the Pre-K children  by cheering them on and tallying their numbers for them. Our kindergarten, first, second and third graders worked in groups. We thoroughly enjoyed our adventure with Oreo cookie math. We had a parent volunteer, Ms. Bowens, who saw us having so much fun that she wanted to try her hand at making a tower too. Benjamin Franklin kids came out as winners having learned many math concepts at the end of the project.
