INFO LETTER BELOW

What is Soul Survivor?

Soul Survivor conferences began in 1993 and grew out of the ‘New Wine’ family conferences. Like New Wine, the Soul Survivor conferences were originally overseen by a church called St Andrews, based in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire. The vision for the Soul Survivor conferences is to offer time away that is specifically for teenagers with loads of fun stuff going on, where Christians and non-Christians can come and hang out but the heart of it is about worshipping God, learning what it means to be a Christian practically and spiritually and experiencing the Holy Spirit personally.

In 1993 the first conference attracted 1,896 young people and has grown every year since to a staggering 25,000 in 2006. There are now 3 conferences for secondary school age, (two in Somerset and one in Cheshire) and additional conference in Somerset for students and 20-somethings. The conferences now host an assortment of seminars, great mix of cafes, sports, football tournaments, full size cinema, indoor skate park plus an after hours programme of all the latest bands artists and workshops.

The summer conferences are held at the Bath and West of England Showground in Shepton Mallet, Somerset (near Bath) and at the Cheshire Showground, attracting young people from all over the UK and abroad. Soul Survivor conferences are also now held in America, Australia, Canada, Holland, Malaysia, New Zealand and South Africa.  WE WILL BE GOING TO WEEK B – SOMERSET.

THE LOWDOWN…

Who is it for? Soul Survivor is for anyone in school year 9 and above.

How do I book? Get the below form to Pete with a £15 deposit, and he will get a full booking form to you.

How much will it cost? The total cost will be around  £150.  You can pay this all at once, or in installments. Cheques should be made payable to ‘SACRED HEART’.  If you can’t afford this, PLEASE don’t let that be a reason not to come, please talk to Pete.

What am I paying for? What you pay will cover the cost of attending the festival, transport to

and from Berkhamsted and your 3 main meals each day. You will need to bring some pocket

money, as there are food courts, cafés and an extensive market place selling books, CDs and

merchandise.

Who’s going?  There will be young people from church youth groups around Berkhamsted

joining up to 10,000 other young people from the UK and across the world. The group from

Berkhamsted will be led by youth workers and adult volunteers from the churches.

How will we get there? There will be transport leaving Berkhamsted on the morning of

Tuesday 07 August, and arriving back around lunchtime on Sunday 12 August.

What’s expected of me? Once you’re at Soul Survivor, you’re free to get involved with as much or as little as you like. We all go to the main meetings together, and eat together, but other than that, the time is your own!
