Shabbat Children's Programs

Attention all kids aged 6 to 11 (and your parents)!  Come out for our weekly Shabbat morning program!  During the Torah service, you will have a chance to learn about the weekly parashah in a fun and interactive way.  Just follow the purple Torah out of the sanctuary and into the Youth Chapel for a fun and meaningful time!

See you on Shabbat!
There are a variety of weekly shabbat activites that children can participate in at Darchei Noam.

Ofcourse, our children are always welcome to be part of our service. They are invited to Bima to be part of the Torah processional and then later the Torah recessional.  They are blessed under our communal tallit and provided with a Shabbat treat, just to tide them over to lunch. And on many shabbatot we may see a few of our children moving through the sanctuary. It is always a nice momentary distraction to watch their warm smiles and inquisitive ways.

CHILDCARE
For children who want a break from services (or their parents, who want a break from their children), we have our childcare room, just down the hall from the sanctuary. Our shul's teens are on hand for children six and under to provide them with a variety of fun activites in a supervised environment.

SHABBATOT (toddler shabbat)
Once a month we have a special Shabbat program for toddlers.  A circle time of songs, games, stories and a kids Kiddush is a fun way to introduce our very young children to Shabbat.

CHILDREN'S SHABBAT PROGRAM

For our pre-bnai-mitvvah children, aged 6-11, there is a weekly program that is held during the Torah service, typically starting about 11am.

Activites related to the Torah portion of the week in the form of music, stories and games provide an extra touch to make it fun to learn about Shabbat an holidays.

The program does not occur during summer months.

KABBALAT SHABBAT

Our monthly Friday night service is child friendly, with a musical service including a story fom our Rabbi.  We light shabbat candles, bless our children and enjoy a communal potluck Shabbat dinner.

Contact Carol, caroldn@bellnet.ca at the office to let her know how many of your family and friends to expect and what you will bring for the dairy potluck.
