Upcoming Events

Sunday, April 15th, Kids4Peace Walk4Peace!  We'll meet at Ohavi Zedek Synagogue at 12:15 and walk down to Farah's Place for a Middle Eastern Lunch and then join in the Kids4Peace, Walk4Peace, friendship and understanding through downtown Burlington to raise awareness and funds for the Kids4Peace summer camp.  Pick up will be at St Paul's Cathedral on the corner of Battery and Cherry Streets in Burlington.  Cost is $10 for lunch, but free to anyone collecting over $100 in pledges for Kids4Peace.  Parents are encouraged to join us!

Some past fun!

2011-2012

September 25, 12:30-3:30  Corn Maze  we all had a great time on the hayride and maze at Sam Mazza's Farm. 

December 10-11th, Hanukkah overnight at Temple Sinai.  What a great time we had at the overnight, looking for stars, havdallah, lighting the menorah, latkes, draidle, PJ fashion show and Hanukkah stories.  All our favorite holiday traditions.  It was great!  Thanks so much to all the parents who helped out for this event. 

February 19th, Sunday, Annual Hamantaschen Baking event at OZ
We all had a wonderful time at the annual Young Judaea Purim Hamantaschen Baking Event.  We'll made and baked Hamantaschen and made Mishloach Manot (purim gift bags) that were delivered to home bound adults in our community and even got to take some home for ourselves as well.

2010-2011

August 29th, We had a great time socializing and getting to know each other and the beautiful grounds and animals at Shelburne Farms.  We had a picnic lunch and had fun with Ofarim!

Sept 26th,  We had a delicious Israeli lunch in the Jacob's Sukkah and had a chance to hold and shake the lulav and etrog and play Apples to Apples.  

October 24th, Sunday, 1:30-3:30,  We enjoyed a special tour of the Lake Champlain Chocolate factory on Pine Street! We learned all about the kosher ingredients used in this yummy chocolate and got to sample all different types of chocolate too while we were there! A HUGE thanks to Gary Coffey and Barrie Silver for giving us such a fun day at the chocolate factory!

November 13th, Saturday evening, 5-9:30pm, Boy did we have fun as we get psyched and prepared for Harry Potter 7 ! by watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  We had some great wizard treats, pizza for dinner and learned about and discussed how Harry Potter relates to Judaism.  It was great fun!

December 4th-5th - We celebrated Hanukkah with our annual Hanukkah overnight at Temple Sinai.  We played Spin the dreidle, had  some yummy  latkes and a fun pajama fashion show.  

February 13th, Sunday, 1-3:30 pm - Sledding Adventure! at Sleepy Hollow

March 13, Sunday. We made over 1,600 hamantaschen at our annual Hamantaschen making  event this year and had a lot of fun doing it. It was great to have so many participants from 2nd grade up working and having fun together.  A great big thank you to all our parent and community volunteers who helped make this a spectacular event. I think there were 60 or so of us busily at work making, baking and creating  mishloach manot (Purim gift bags) that Bogrim and community volunteers delivered to home bound adults in our community and their families and friends.  A great big thank you to Kathy Guevara for all her help making 11 batches of dough for us, running the ovens and all her work in the kitchen!

April 10th, 12:30- 3:30 We had a great time celebrating Passover at Chabad and helping raise funds and  awareness for Kids4Peace camp at the annual WALK4PEACE! 


2009-2010

September 13th, Sunday,  12:45 until 6pm -We had a great time at Northern Lights Rock and Ice Ropes Course.  Click here to view pictures.  There was  both low and high ropes courses for the group to work at and have fun on, a 450 ft zip line for those of us that were feeling adventurous. 

October 18th, Corn Maze and Pumpkin Picking at Sam Mazza's Farm in Colchester We escaped  on this three mile maze and worked as a team to make our way through! and a hay ride! Pumpkin picking!

November 8th, Sunday, 12:45-2:45 -We had a great time at Pizza Put! eating and playing mini-golf.

December 12th-13th, - Hanukkah overnight!   We'll had  Havdallah, lit the menorah, had arts and crafts activities, played dreidel, made menorahs, had a pajama fashion show, and lots of Hanukkah foods. 

January 24th, Sunday -We had a beautiful, sunny afternoon sledding at Calahan Park.  Many thanks to the Moskowitz family for hosting us afterward while we talked about Tu B'Shevat, had some fruits form the Seder, snacks, hot chocolate and watched "The Lorax".  We talked about the movie after in terms of the holiday and we discussed what kinds of things the Lorax and Onceller could have done differently. 

February 14th, Sunday 12:30-3:00 PM Our annual event Hamentashen event and always lots of fun.  We'll made Hamentashen and created and distributed mishloach manot (Purim gift bags) to home bound adults in our community.  We got to  take some home to our valentines too.

March 21st, Sunday 12:45-2:45pm -  We donned some skates and glided our way around the rink at Cairns Arena in south Burlington.  

April 4th, Sunday 12:30-2:30 - We remembered the Holocaust this year by watching the movie ?Paperclips? which features a Middle School in rural Tennessee. In efforts to fully understand the events of the Holocaust and the impact it had on the Jewish people, the schoolchildren engage in a project that will help them grasp the magnitude of this historical event. 

May 23, Sunday, 12:30-2:30 we had fun at the beach at Oakledge Park.




Tara has two sons Lucian Norrell and Maceo Norrell who are actively involved with Ohavi Zedek, Hebrew School, and Young Judaea.  Besides working as Director of Development and Selection at Northwestern Financial Network (new job), being married, and being a Mom she has played roller derby with the Green Mountain Derby Dames for the past three years, and is also a poet.  Tara is very excited to work as a Young Judaea leader this year because she has watched how fun it has been for both her sons over the years.
