posted Dec 9, 2010 1:18 PM by Leslie Young

Here we are; 1 week and 2 days left of this quarter and we still have a whole lot of work to do. I know we are anticipating the winter break, which means we are really going to have to put a lot of effort into staying focused these last few days.

7th Graders you have a painting to finish by Tuesday,  a portfolio to make by Friday , which requires a poster board to make and the following Monday you have to frame(matte) a picture, Tuesday the 21st we will  hang up your artwork in the hallways.

8th Graders you too have a painting to finish but you have until Friday to get it done, Those who finished already I will work with you this week to create a linoleum print. On Monday you too will matte a picture  and Tuesday we will pass back portfolios and hang up you picture in the hallway.

If you are one of the student with a Zero for your tepee grade it maybe because you did not put a name in your tepee - See Mrs. Young ASAP Monday to correct this error!

If you are one with a zero because you did not finish it I better see you during advisory Monday!

Week 4- Note to the Parents

posted Nov 9, 2010 9:14 AM by Leslie Young

As we move through projects they are given checkpoints to be at by the end of each class so that they can turn their project in on time.  Every day they are told that if they have not reached this checkpoint they should stay after school.

Please do not think that staying after necessarily means that they are goofing around in class, they just may need some extra help doing that particually section and by staying after school I can then give them one on one attention to help them get caught up.

Week 3

The 7th graders worked on value this week -it is a slow process but once we have them down the rest of the quarter will go smoothly and they started working on their teepee.  We still have quite a few people who have not brought their posterboard, so if that is you, please do that on  MONDAY 11/8/10, I would like to start putting portfolios together.
8th graders were very busy this week. They reviewed value , 1point perspective, general drawing rules and then they started working designing a cityscape using 2 point perspective

Week 1 -2nd quarter

Welcome to Art- we have hit the ground running this quarter already. We have learned how to post to my Blog and create a critique for artwork (which is not due until 12/17). We have created and started doing sketchbook assignments  that will help us practice our drawing skills before creating final artworks. And we have started our first major project that continues their use of computers from last quarter to create Artist Trading cards, which they can do the research at home  but all trading cards are produced here. The final project I am hoping to be Done by Monday or Tuesday next week

Week 3 - Ready, Set, Draw

posted Sep 4, 2010 8:41 PM by Leslie Young

We made it through another week of up and down temps and we finally started drawing. It was great to meet some of the new faces of the parents Wednesday nights Open House and say hello to familar faces from previous years.
Monday & Tuesday we put our finishing touches on our trading cards and turned them in.  Wednesday  & Thrusday we reviewed how to to draw shapes and place value on our shapes using several different methods.   Friday we practiced putting these concepts together on worksheets in class.  Those that did not finish need to bring them in at the begining of class Tuesday.
Next week we start our first drawing projects, 7th grade will be making teepees and 8th grade wil be drawing a 2 point perspective building designs.
