A Business Called You

Are you frustrated with your current work - or lack of it?

Fed up of being a 'wage slave'?

Do you dream of 'one day' running your own business - and does it feel like time is running out?

It sounds like it's time to explore the What, How and Why of creating your own business.

Who exactly is this workshop for?

You are considering starting your own business.
You have a desire to bring about positive change in the world and want to decide if an entrepreneurial venture is the way to go.

Your ideas are vague. When you try to explain your ideas to others, you realise you don't really know what you're talking about. You haven't yet had the chance to think all the aspects through and so it comes across as a dream, rather than a realistic option.

You can't yet take yourself seriously as an entrepreneur. There are lots of voices in your head saying that you're not cut out to run your own business and "who would want what you have to offer anyway??"

You don't really know what's next. Should you create a business plan? Approach a bank? Think up a business name? You're not sure what the process of starting a business is and what action steps to take.

You want support and encouragement. You want to have the space to explore what your business might look like. You want to feel that others believe you can do it - and you want to know what that 'it' is!

If this sounds like you, then this workshop may be exactly what you're looking for.

This was a well organised and positive workshop - I felt like we all came away so much better informed and enthusiastic. I now have confidence in my ability to start a business and will start a plan for my business idea. I  am looking forward to being more in control of my destiny
- M. A. Sawford

What You'll Get From This One-Day Workshop

1. You'll discover what makes you utterly unique. You'll walk away knowing what some of your key values are and how these can form the basis of your own business, giving you a natural and authentic USP (Unique Selling Point).

2. You'll have a vision. The entrepreneurial journey can be challenging and we all need something to hold on to. You will have connected with the big picture of what your business is all about.

3. You'll know how to package your passion. You'll have found a number of ways of making your gifts marketable and creating multiple streams of income.

4. You'll have discovered a win-win way of doing business. You'll see how your work can have a positive impact on the world and fulfil others' needs as well as your own.

5. You'll feel much more able to move forward. You will have addressed some of the key concerns and obstacles that were previously stopping you from getting into action. You'll have developed strategies for dealing with those parts of you which try to sabotage your efforts.

6. You'll feel supported by others. You'll have created a strong bond with the other workshop participants and will have built accountability with them. You'll feel less isolated, less of a 'lone ranger'.

I've learnt that it is possible to follow your dreams and to see obstacles not as a block but as a challenge to overcome. I've also learnt that other people have the same worries and uncertainties as yourself. As a result of this workshop, I'll take positive steps to make the venture happen. I feel very positive - I'm sure I could do it.

For Schools/Sixth Form Colleges

This workshop continues to fit well within Enterprise Week. Even in a one-hour version, students learn about their strengths, their values and the role they play in a team. They then have the chance to collaboratively create business ideas for each other, based on this foundation.

I have learnt more about myself and have a better idea of what I want to do when I am olde
r.

I thought it was really fun and I realised there's a lot of choice of what you want to do with your life!

Good - involved everyone, no sitting around, very interactive, made people find their own answers and gave a variety of opinions.

Liked people choosing businesses for each other. Good to hear others' opinions.

Makes you see your true goals in life and how you can plan ahead and achieve what you want

I can now respect my own values and other people's values

I learnt to look for answers within myself

I loved realising who I can be
