ETTA individual registration
The ETTA is introducing individual registration from the 2010-11 season. More information to follow.
Banned bat rubbers From 1st July 2008 a number of long-pimpled rubbers were banned by the ITTF. The ETTA recommended to local leagues a year’s “cooling off” period. York agreed to this so the ban came into effect on 1st July 2009. The ETTA now say that this is not a ban but a recommendation and that in Local League matches a player can use any type of rubber that complies with the requirements of the Laws in respect of thickness, colour etc, whether or not it is of a type currently authorised by the ITTF. This means that the York League requests players to use only racket coverings that are of types authorised by the ITTF.
Attached is a link to the ITTF list of authorised rubbers, which indicates those that are banned.
ITTF Authorised Racket Coverings The ETTA now say that this is not a ban but a recommendation. Please see the letter from ETTA Chairman, Alex Murdoch. Two quotes from the letter: "This means that in Local League matches a player can use any type of rubber that complies with the requirements of the Laws in respect of thickness, colour etc, whether or not it is of a type currently authorised by the ITTF.”. "I know that some leagues over the years have adopted in their own rules a requirement for players to use only racket coverings that are of types authorised by the ITTF. Players in league matches cannot be compelled to observe such a rule and it should be regarded as a recommendation or request.". |
