Gentle Yoga in Tucson

(not) about me

Teaching yoga is still new for me. M
y background is in art. I find it liberating that my work is less about me now and more about other people.  Making friends through yoga - friends with people, the world, myself - that is what it is about for me.

I am a 2008 graduate from the Yoga Connection in Tucson. Many thanks to all their inspiring teachers for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm, especially Priscilla Potter, Sue Ferguson, Gary Phelan. Special thanks to my teacher Becky Thomas. She's the one who got me hooked. Thanks to Catherine, Kathleen, Mark, Patty, Helga and Anwyn for volunteering as guinea pigs throughout my training and for being such great friends and yoga buddies. Thanks Lucy. Thanks Jessica. Thanks Nancy. Thanks Dylan!!!!!!!  And a deep bow to my students. Namaste! Thank you for letting me learn something new with each class and for trusting me to guide you in your yoga practice. I hope I can give you as much as you give me.

Being a student myself I very much enjoy taking classes in different studios in and out of town, experience different styles of yoga and teaching. The classes Dylan and I go to regularly now are Chris Coniaris' classes at Yoga Flow. Lots to learn from Chris, he is great, really helps you find answers, but never leaves you without new questions. Last spring I had the chance to take a weekend workshop with Erich Schiffmann in Phoenix. I like his approach a lot - freedom style yoga - and I like how he teaches meditation. I recommend this teacher in any format, life or on audio or through his book "Moving into Stillness". It's my favorite yoga book, his website is great too. Please check it out. Sue Ferguson and Nancy Bower recently gave a Back Care Teacher Training at the Yoga Connection that I attended. Lot's of helpful and practical information. Nancy is also introducing me to yoga therapy right now.

Great inspiration and happiness coming from all that. Thank you!
