Youth Legislature provides participants with an opportunity to gain insight local and state policy and politics through a challenging and constructive three-day program.  The focus of this conference is to provide student participants with the experience of being a part of a functioning state government, from bill passage to policy advising.  Participants are assigned to one of the following programs: Governor’s Cabinet, Lt. Governor’s Cabinet, Senate, House of Representatives, Policy Development Team, Supreme Court or Press.  Positions of aides, couriers and liaisons are also available for student participation. Students also gain exposure to parliamentary procedure and debate at the Louisiana State capitol.
