Welcome to my mutual fund ranking web site. The purpose of this web site is to provide my friends and family members a way to trade mutual funds based on their weekly momentum rankings. Fund ranking pages are updated every weekend so that the action can be taken on the following Monday or the first trading day of the following week. By buying and selling funds based on their momentum, we are aiming for return better than market average.
I started to invest my savings in stock market in 1987 before the famous "Black Monday." After years of studying stock market timing techniques, I found that the simple trend-following strategies perform better in the long run if applied consistently. However, stock selection is a very difficult task in itself. For ordinary people like you and me, growth mutual funds are better investments to obtain consistent and robust profit year after year. As economy and market condition changes, the industrial leadership and/or regional growth potential will change accordingly. These leadership changes are reflected in the price trend in the respective sector or regional mutual funds. The rankings of mutual funds in a group of funds identifies the top and bottom performing funds at a given time. Combining trend following strategies and ranking, one should be able to hold the top performing fund for a period of time and sell it when it is either trending down or lagging the other funds in the given fund group.
Be aware that mechanical trading can be very boring, and sometimes frustrating. Market volatility affect people's emotion, while the timing system gives no signals, or sometimes the system either gives false signals or signals that incurs loss after loss (although small but it is in humans' nature to usually give up after 2 consecutive losses). Fear and greed are the 2 common emotion that cause investors to make bad decisions. Remember discipline is the key to success.
