About Us

The American Chemical Society’s Younger Chemists Committee (YCC) was formed to identify the needs and concerns of young chemists and to develop programs responsive to their needs. YCC is driven by three goals:
  • Make the ACS relevant to younger chemists
  • Increase the involvement of younger chemists in the ACS at all levels
  • Develop mechanisms to integrate younger chemists into the profession
The Local Section of the Younger Chemist Committee was formed fall 2008 as a means to bring external speakers and activities outside of chemistry to the young chemists in the Ames area. The speakers will have a wide range of expertise from entrepreneurship to management skills. The idea is to show how knowledge gained in academia can be applied in industry and elsewhere.
