About UsThe American Chemical Society’s Younger Chemists Committee (YCC) was formed to identify the needs and concerns of young chemists and to develop programs responsive to their needs. YCC is driven by three goals:
The Local Section of the Younger Chemist Committee was formed fall 2008 as a means to bring external speakers and activities outside of chemistry to the young chemists in the Ames area. The speakers will have a wide range of expertise from entrepreneurship to management skills. The idea is to show how knowledge gained in academia can be applied in industry and elsewhere. The Graduate Student Symposium meets bi-weekly on Wednesdays at 4:00 pm in 1352 Gilman Hall. Click here for more information and to sign up. Check the calendar for upcoming presenters. Watch ACS webinars with us Thursdays at 1:00 pm in the basement of Hach Hall. Check the calendar for upcoming hosted webinars. The International Year of Chemistry 2011 (IYC
2011) is a worldwide celebration of the achievements of chemistry and
its contributions to the well-being of humankind. Under the unifying
theme “Chemistry—our life, our future,” IYC
2011 will offer a range of interactive, entertaining, and educational
activities for all ages. The Year of Chemistry is intended to reach
across the globe, with opportunities for public participation at the
local, regional, and national level. |
