Many
English homes have
chaenemoles
japonica bushes in their hedge
rows. Many people think of them as ornamentals, and
the fruit as decoration, because they taste so terrible eaten raw, but
these fruits are actually quince and
can be cooked into a beautiful and
delicious jam.
These
lovely pink to red flowers are the first to bloom in
spring and have small yellow fruits that spread a beautiful perfume on
warm late summer days.
