Welcome to York Young Archaeologists' Club

Hello!

Welcome to the website of the York branch of the Young Archaeologists' Club (YAC).

The club is aimed at young people from 9 up to 17 years of age with an interest in archaeology and is run by a bunch of enthusiastic archaeologists, museum professionals and teachers. We meet once a month for a two-hour session in which we explore the heritage of York and surrounding area. We go 'behind the scenes' at museums and places of historic interest and learn about the many specialisms that allow us to develop our understanding of the past. We take every opportunity to 'get stuck in' with practical tasks, ranging from object handling through to excavation!

For further details of our forthcoming sessions please follow this link.

A team of intrepid staff and volunteers from YAC HQ will be undertaking a sponsored walk covering six laps of York’s city walls… dressed as Romans and carrying Roman equipment. Follow this link for more info on how to get involved!
