Dr. Nguyen Xuan Tinh is currently a senior Civil Engineer at CTI Engineering International Co. Ltd. (CTII). He has more than 18-year experiences working in over 8 countries focusing on coastal engineering and integrated flood management projects. He is a highly accomplished senior coastal engineer with a strong academic background in Civil and Environmental Engineering, holding a prestigious PhD degree from Tohoku University, Japan. His extensive research achievements in coastal engineering have been recognized with three esteemed awards, including the Best Paper Award at the Coastal Engineering Journal in 2020, the JAMSTEC Nakanishi Award in 2021, and the JSCE Best Paper Award in 2021. His diverse research interests encompass river and coastal engineering, hydrodynamic modeling, ocean energy, natural disaster prevention and mitigation, climate changes, and water environmental engineering.
With over 30 published journal articles in these areas since 2009, Dr. Tinh demonstrates a deep commitment to advancing knowledge in water-related fields. In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Tinh has gained invaluable consulting experiences on river and coastal engineering project. He has successfully managed and executed various engineering design analyses and natural hazards and environment modeling studies for different water systems, including rivers, estuaries and coastal areas. His expertise in technical and project management skills has contributed to the development of crucial planning documents, feasibility studies, system performance standards, and design specifications.
Notably, Dr. Tinh possesses specialized proficiency in conducting multi-dimensional environmental hydrodynamic modeling and analysis studies, utilizing an impressive array of numerical models such as DELFT3D, AQUAVEO-SMS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EFDC, RRI, CEDAS, XBEACH, and MIKE Models. Furthermore, his proficiency in programming languages, including PYTHON, MATLAB, and FORTRAN, he has developed a desktop application software name Global_HydroMETCO by using PYTHON language. This tool is to easily download and process hydrological, meteorological, climate change and ocean datasets from various online data sources such as the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data (CHIRPS), and Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMaP).
