Website Changes As you might have noticed the pages of my website have changed considerably, this is partly due to my original choice of theme being rather poor and to reflect the fact this is my main homepage, and not the older page which I have now updated to point to here. I still have plans in the works for further improvements but I do think this new theme is a marked improvement over the old theme of this website. Also included in the changes was all the fonts have been fixed so there's a uniform font and size across the page (this happened because of some copying and pasting I did from the old page). MW2 Issues/Complaints After writing a few tweets about a certain issue with MW2, I've been getting some rather ridiculous responses from Activision's support on Twitter, more specifically I initially wrote as a complaint: MW2 fail, I can join a friend in a party as he enters a match that is using the new maps but then get kicked once the game is about to load. To which Activision responded with a bunch of garbage about ports not being open, the latest firmware causing issues, etc only to finally come to the brilliant conclusion that I shouldn't have been able to join the match, gee no **** sherlock, that's why I wrote the tweet to complain about it and they still were spouting this garbage even after I clarified that first tweet with this one. Now I'll admit my first tweet wasn't absolutely clear but after the next one it should have been clear what it was I was writing about and then it should have been a simple process to either provide a competent answer or just be quiet about it. Between this, the fact the map pack costs $14.99 in North America and the constant problems with boosting and cheating it's like Activision/Infinity Ward just want us to give up on the game. I mean I already skipped out on buying Call of Duty: World at War and I'm not buying any future games and from the looks of it unless Activision/Infinity Ward have a change of heart, the MW2 DLC will also remain unbought by me. Where's The Any Key Funny website/contest Microsoft is running in the U.K, one my my favorites being this one:
Windows 7 Annoyances Don't get me wrong, I like Windows 7, it was definitely an improvement over Vista although even Vista was a decent operating system but my problem with it today was around 11 this morning I get an alert from Windows saying I need to reactivate because my hardware changed. Now the computer this copy of 7 is installed to is a laptop which has never been be opened up to dust out, let alone swap the RAM or the hard drive (since there the only things I could change) and I had no installed no new hardware drivers to my system within the past month. In fact going through my Windows Update history, the last time an update was installed for Windows itself that wasn't for Microsoft Security Essentials or IE8 or Office 2007 (in other words modified the system itself) was the 10th of March and the last driver update was back in January on the 21st. So what in the world is the reason for requiring me to reactivate which costs me my cell minutes since it's the only phone I have.
Amazon.ca annoyances Alright I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but Amazon.ca can sometimes be a real pain in the a**. I'll outline my specific problems in points. A. They don't offer price adjustments on their own sales, so if you buy something and they decide to drop the price 2 days later, you're screwed unless you complain to them and even then you'll most likely get nothing. B. They are inconsistent, in my orders to them I have had two pre-orders for videogames, one for BioShock 2 and one for God of War III, my BioShock 2 order on free Super Saver shipping shipped out a day before release to be there the day after, meanwhile my God of War III pre-order is still sitting around (free Super Saver shipping as well), yet to be shipped, the shipping estimation is 3-4 days after the game releases and another 6 days after that it should be delivered and it's only shipping 2 hours away from the Mississauga facility everything comes out for Amazon.ca. So in the end, it would have been more worthwhile to just go to a midnight launch or buy it in-store, the pre-order meant nothing. C. Inconsistency continued, well the last one was getting long so I'll continue it here. Pricing on Amazon.ca is also inconsistent, currently as of the 16th of March, 2010, Amazon.ca will sell you BioShock 2 for the PlayStation 3 for $69.83, an XBOX 360 copy though, $59.99 and no indication that it's a sale. D. Accuracy, I don't know what it is but Amazon.ca is sometimes pretty bad about accuracy, in one case go search the PlayStation 3 Game Deals section and you'll find a DS game in there, even better I reported that mistake and they rejected it saying they couldn't verify that. Another one is the XBOX 360 Arcade description, despite several reviewers pointing out the description is inaccurate and Amazon looks through reviews before posting them, they still claim the console doesn't come with a wireless controller (which of course they do) and that a 64MB Memory Unit is included, it's actually 256MB. If you have encountered any issues, send them to xtremeracer637@gmail.com, if there's enough of them, I'll start a separate section on this website for them. I also plan to make a YouTube upload about these problems as well. Olympics Coverage Sucks Well unless you live in the middle of the woods with no contact to the outside world at all, you probably seen some piece of the Olympics coverage whether on NBC, CTV related station and boy is the coverage awful. During one event I watched coverage of a skiing event on CTV and after Lindsay Vonn took a nosedive and wiped out I lost count how many times they would repeat the same thing over and over again, it was always Lindsay Vonn wiped out, great she did so, you don't need to remind us 50 million times, plenty of others wiped out and at most they were mentioned twice. I don't care if the coverage is primarily North American based, it's simply ridiculous to constantly remind us one person wiped out and no one else is mentioned nearly as much. What do you have nothing else to talk about.
Netscape in a modern world
As a bit of a nostalgia trip back to the days of my IBM Aptiva machine originally with Windows 98 and dial-up access I decided to try out Netscape Navigator 4.8 on Windows XP in today's browsing world. Let me put in this way, the Internet has changed a lot, not a single website I went to using Navigator rendered properly, Google News being one that almost completely failed. Even this website was a disaster, once loaded the page was almost unreadable. (If you want to see the full image as Google Sites limits what I can do with images, right click on it and press View Image in Firefox, IE8 fails to present an option to do so and Chrome users, right click and choose Open Image in new tab) FirefoxFor all of you who may be viewing this page and don't have Firefox click here to go to the download page of Firefox, the faster, more secure and more customizable Internet browser. Ad-Block PlusHave you ever been annoyed by those Flash ads or any other ads on websites. Well now you don't have to with Ad-Block Plus for Firefox. Don't be fooled by the name though, it's a fully free to use extension for Firefox that can block the most annoying of advertisements and save your bandwidth, time and make your browsing experience more secure. DLC MotorcycleIf you play Midnight Club: Los Angeles at all online you have probably seen the Ducati 08 1098R Motorcycle being used and have noticed something, the unfair advantage gained by users of this motorcycle over every other car in the game including the Ninja ZX14 motorcycle, every other car in the DLC pack is balanced with the other cars so that people don't gain an unfair advantage just because they are able to fork out more money for the DLC which not everyone has the ability to do. Except this motorcycle, so I propose that in lack of a vote feature in Midnight Club we don't race or condone the use of this unfair motorcycle till changes are made to make it balanced against other vehicles. |
