Welcome! This is a personal website for Xiangyu Shi, a fifth-year economics PhD student at Yale University. Xiangyu is an applied economist currently working on development, trade, and applied microeconomics, and especially, social and economic networks and firm dynamics. Xiangyu has submitted his dissertation and got approval in April 2024. He will be on the market for AY 2024-2025.

Xiangyu's research encompasses the applied microeconomic theory, applied econometric theory, and macroeconomics of networks and firm dynamics. Moreover, Xiangyu applies micro-structural and macro-quantitative models to study policy-relevant questions in development, trade, and applied microeconomics. Xiangyu also studies applied microeconomic theories and applied econometric theories that are related to real-world applications.

Xiangyu's doctoral dissertation studies the intersection of networks and firm dynamics, with the regional focus on China and the US.

In his spare time, Xiangyu enjoys watching sports, playing basketball, and playing the violin, piano, and guitar.
