Liturgical Ministry Questions and Answers

Where can I get copies of the schedule?

Pick up a hard copy of the schedule from the ministers’ area outside the sacristy.  “Go green” by downloading the schedule here.

What should I do when I arrive to serve at a Mass?

Please arrive 30 minutes before Mass.  Go to the sacristy and check your name off the posted schedule to indicate your attendance.  Let the coordinator know you’re there and follow his or her instructions about what to do next.

What if I can’t serve on a day I’m scheduled to serve?
If you can't serve as scheduled, please try to find a sub.  A Contact List is attached to the schedule, including names of ministers who are not on the schedule but who are potentially available to sub.  Cross your name off the schedule posted outside the sacristy.  Contact the Coordinator of the Mass you’ll be missing to let them know you can’t serve.  Let them know if you’ve found a sub.  If a last-minute issue keeps you from your scheduled ministry, contact the Coordinator or call the parish front desk at (212) 627-2100 and let them know of your absence.

What about Holy Days?

There will be minister sign-up sheets for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Christmas Eve/Day, the weekend after Christmas, New Year’s Eve/Day, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday.  We'll let you know when we post the sign-up sheets.

When is the next schedule coming out?

The next schedule will cover the period from February 13 to March 28, 2010.  The schedule will be distributed in mid-December 2009.  Contact Kathleen Friel by January 24, 2010 if you want to make any changes to your ministry role, Mass you serve at, contact info, or frequency of service.

I’m not happy with how I was scheduled, or I wasn’t listed in the schedule and/or contact list, but I want to be.  What should I do?

Contact Kathleen Friel at xavierministers@gmail.com or by filling out a blue form (located in the ministers’ area outside the sacristy).  Be assured that errors were unintentional!

How do I contact the ministry schedule maker?
Kathleen Friel is currently coordinating the ministry scheduling.  Contact her by emailing xavierministers@gmail.com or by filling out a blue form (blank forms and an envelope for completed forms are located in the ministers’ area outside the sacristy).

Is there an email distribution list for ministers?

Some of you may remember a Yahoo email distribution group for ministers.  The Yahoo group needs some updating.  You can contact ministers using their information contained in the Contact List, attached to this schedule.  For now, the Yahoo group is not an effective way to reach ministers.  Stay tuned!  FYI, sending an email to xavierministers@gmail.com will not result in your message being sent to the entire list of ministers- it will only go to Kathleen Friel.
