Xavier Grades 7 and 8

Week 8 (November 23, 2008)

On November 23, November 30, and December 7, we had no regular class:  on November 23, all of the Family Faith program made wreaths;  on November 30, we were off for the Thanksgiving holiday; and on December 7, we celebrated the feast of St. Francis Xavier with the other Family Faith classes.  The theme of the celebration was focused on the travels of St. Francis, and each grade created a station that focused on one of the countries that St. Francis visited.  Our grade was assigned Mozambique.  Not all that much was known about St. Francis's time in Mozambique (or at least we couldn't find any such information), so we talked about the culture of Mozambique.  Some students discussed mask carving, a tradition of the country; others discussed the influence of the Portugese; and others discussed the impact of AIDS on the country.
