I had a totally inspirational weekend looking at urban art, street art, graffiti and even creating skateboards! Of course, Banksy was brought up and I found a cool film that was released about him called Exit Through the Gift Shop and I even found it online! If you really are interested, have a look at my blog to see pics of the Ontario College of Art and Design and my art robot that I made! Banksy in Toronto!! Please, PLEASE bring your money in for our walking art tour of Toronto. It will be worth it, I promise! HOMEWORK: (yes, it's true!)Please anwer the following questions about your shoe drawing. Ideally, you should do this on your digital portfolio. If you are unclear about how to log you can access the info here and use the default log in information. If it isn't possible to do this online, you can submit this on paper. Walk In My Shoes... 1. Compare your final shoe drawing with your first drawing of a popcorn. How has your drawing improved? 2.

Today we are working in the computer lab and will be beginning our Digital Portfolios. Hopefully, if all goes well, the ideal platform will be Blogger but there have been some issues using the school internet. If there are any problems, we will be using a discussion forum. For either, you must create a google account. It is very important that you keep in mind the "Acceptable Use Policy" that was handed to you the first day of class, and is also outlined on our site.
Blogger is by far the best to use. To see some examples of a Digital Portfolio see the links below:
Clay Van de Ven
What is a Digital Portfolio?
We have created portfolios in class that will hold and showcase all of your work that you create for the course. A Digital Portfolio will serve the same needs, however, we will be able to add text discussing our artwork and preliminary work. Also, classmates will be able to comment on our artworks, which makes us better artists. People looking at your digital portfolios will be able to read about your creative process, the meaning behind your artworks and your goals in creating- in the end it gives us a 'voice' that we don't otherwise have with traditional portfolios. The best reason to have digital portfolios is that if you continue onto an arts program in College or University, many require a digital portfolio for admissions.
Step One: Create a Google Account.
For either Blogger or the Discussion Forum you will need a google account. Go to www.google.ca to create one if you don't have one already.
Step Two: Create your Digital Portfolio
You will either log into Blogger or click on the Digital Portfolio Link to the left to sign in and create your page. If we can use Blogger, you can spend some time customizing your Blog. If you do get onto Blogger, be sure to email me at mswyatt@mswyatt.ca so that I can add you to this site.
Step Three: Upload your artwork
Your images have been uploaded onto http://flickr.com/photos/wyattartnow . Find your pictures and copy and save them to your computer. If you still need to take pictures, go ahead. If you are not finished your portfolio, we can take pictures later.
Step Four: Blog Your Art!
Answer the following questions in full sentences. You can also link to other cool grafitti artists or artists or pages that inspire you- like musicians, sports, etc.
1. Describe how your lettering, colours and objects that you used in your portfolio represent you.
2. What were some of the challenges you experienced when you were creating your portfolio?
3. What do you like the most about your portfolio?
4. Should grafitti be taught in art classes in high schools? Why or why not? What do we have to do to be sure that grafitti is not seen as vandalism?

Our first project will be a grafitti portfolio project. We don't have to create grafitti lettering, but will be inspired by the characteristics of grafitti: -letters are creative -letters are centred/proportional -designs/colours reflect YOU! -bright/bold/3D/bold outlines/patterns |
