The storm of fagun has carried the message of arrival of spring.Spring is known to Hindu people as Rituraj Basanta.Spring is not coming only to HINDUSTHAN,it is coming in the universe.Spring is not only a season for eastern world,but also a greenly season for western world.Spring is beginning of natural new year.The trees are become leafy, the golden paddy crops are ready to be food grain in the season spring. The famous lyricist and singer,Dada Saheb Falke award winner,living legend of HINDUSTHAN Sri Bhupen Hazarika has said in this respect that,spring is not only a season ,it is the life line of Hindu Assamese people.The famous literary work of Pandit Kalidasa was "MEGHDOOT".Maximum poetry of the book was totally based on spring season.The book was total description of spring season. Among Indian states,Assam is unique in celebration of spring season.Spring or Basanta Ritu utsav is called here in Assam as Rangali Bihu or Bahag Bihu.Hindu Assamese people worship cow as God,during Rangali Bihu festival.Rangali Bihu is one of the major traditional event of the year. Hindu Assamese new year begins at the same time of Rangali Bihu.
Hindu Assamese youths come to Bihutali during the festival to WELCOME Hindu Assamese new year,known as Rangali Bihu and enjoys Bihu dances in traditional coloured dresses with the rhythm of traditional instrument Dhol and Pepa.Bihu is such a dance ,which can attracts every one.The rhythm of Bihu music compels to dance not only youth of Assam ,but also olden one.
Bihutali is the place,where Hindu Assamese youth choices their life partners,when they dance together.It is a tradition in Assam to escape with one's beloved during Bihu festival. Now a days ,this great and rich traditional dance become a commercial event among so called aristocrat society.It is a self murder step to our national culture.Bihu is a natural rhythm,it 's gift of spring season,we should not commercialise it .
Another interesting thing is that,we,the people of Assam has an egotism and narrow mentality that is ,we only celebrate Basanta Ritu utsav.But the fact is that all most in every state of HINDUSTHAN ,spring festival is celebrat with full enthusiasm.LAHOR's Basanta festival is world famous .Whereas LAHORE is in PAKISTHAN now and it is a Islamic country.Even that many Punjabies visit every year to LAHORE to celebrate and enjoy Basanta Utsav.Which is a nostalgia and symbol of brotherhood among Muslims and Hindus.Which was before partition among them. Pakisthan government also encourages organisers of the festival for the benefit of tourism industry and growth of integrity among HINDU and PAK. citizen.After all both the nation is from same blood and same mother.
The spring festival, in northern India is celebrated as HALKHATA, RAM NAVAMI,BAISHAKHI and NEW YEAR celebration and in southern part of our country, the festival is known as ONNAM, PONGAL and NEW Years eve. The motto, expression of cheerfulness and celebrating style of spring festival is all most same in all over India.Every where the spring festival is connected with harvesting of new crops and welcoming of new year.HINDU new year begins in BARSHAPRTIPADA of spring season.It is known as YOUGUBDA. This year counting system is more than 5000 years old.
HINDU Punjabi's Bhangra dance and Baishakhi festival is world famous.They celebrate this spring festival for whole Baishakh month.Hindu Bengali people has a tradition in Protham Baishag,that is ,HINDU bengali will memorise their forefathers ,arranges harvest feast and welcomes new year by hearing new calendar of Hindu Bengali new year from their family priest. Even in our Government and banking accounting system,account closing is in March and new account starts from first April.This period comes in spring,at the time of HINDU NEW year beginning .That means unconsciously we are following our system in Governmental ?works and it is natural.Why we have to run after western influences.We are 5500 years old nation according to historical proof and evidence .The HINDU people have had an organised social system for more than 3000 years.The Vedas,the Upanishads,Dharma shastras and Grihya sutras have knit the people of India from Himalayas to Cape Camorin.
So instead of English new year celebration,we should celebrate WELCOMING OF HINDU NEW YEAR.Which will build our nation rich and healthy in cultural side. It will develop our tourism industry and will help to increase national integrity among INDIANS or HINDUS.Why not we celebrate this spring HINDU NEW YEAR festival nation wide in a same platform to make our country strong and united. It will grow patriotism among citizen. If we do so ,then we can take place in the world as an active and vigorous society.
our Government can do something regarding that,because it is their duty to bring peace ,harmony and to grow integration and patriotism among citizen through different type of teaching and celebration. But it is a matter of sorrow that our intelligent Government always encourages western influences and helps to grow other country's economy.As for example during Valentine day and English new year celebration.Our Governmental machinery is so busy to arrange those program and for official visits of Governmental person.our DoorDarshan 's national Network ?and ALL INDIA RADIO is one inch high regarding this sort of arrangement,shame for it.One nation should have self respect to their own tradition and culture.
