Archives and Records

Work to discover and preserve the Archives of the Parish has been undertaken for many years.   This has resulted in an extensive collection of archival material on both the Church, the Parish and the surrounding area.

Copies of a wide selection of Records including all the Parish census records from 1841 to 1911, plus limited information on adjoining Parishes, the 1910 Land Valuation Valuer's Field Books and maps and a selection of Parish register records and related documents have also been obtained.

All the above is on view at the Open Days together with themed exhibitions.   Listed below below are the titles of the 2012 Exhibitions.

May and June                    'The Life of Queen Elizabeth II'

June / July                         'The Battle of Marston Moor - 2nd July 1644

September and October   'Childhood Through the Ages'

Long Marston is now in the administrative county of North Yorkshire but prior to the local government reorganisation in 1974 it was in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
