| Freedom Fertilizer Freedom Fertilizer was founded by Steve Gruhn, owner /general manager of Courtyard Gardens a greenhouse and garden center in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He has been involved in agricultural his entire life. A lifelong resident of this windbelt state, Steve was inspired over 15 years ago by the Spirit Lake School System’s first wind turbine installation along with other developments in wind technology and how it can be used to develop renewable energies. After exploring many forms of renewable energy and how the industries involved interact, he wanted to share the information with stakeholders – business leaders, farmers, local, state and federal officials and others – and started the Freedom Fertilizer blog. The Blog (windnh3.blogspot.com) has now grown into a web site filled with information – research and opinion papers, scientific studies, government regulations and more.
