A very busy Sunday on Richmond street saw the first event hosted by the club in our Young Athletes League series. Despite losing a number of female athletes to other clubs East Cheshire managed to field a good team which paid dividends.
Trafford AC brought a very strong squad who came out eventual winners with East Chesh coming second infront of Holmfirth and local rivals Stockport.
'Athletes of the match' were two competing in their very first competitions James Sanders and Kelly Bostock. A big thanks to those athletes who filled in and a huge thank you to the army of officials and helpers including those from other clubs.
The next competion is Sunday 20th May at Cleckheaton West Yorkshire.
Manchester marathon
29th April 2012
After an absence of 10 years the Manchester marathon made its return and East Cheshire had a contingent of diehards, including James Fairfield and Elaine Helme who both competed in London the week before.
Inclement weather, wind and rain, met the runners but it didn't dampen their spirits. John Sloan was the first ECH home in 2.54 and a creditable 34th. Tony Hillier was first vet 60 in 3.19.

London Marathon
22nd April 2012
Congratulations to all the club members who completed the London Marathon, and unlucky for Liam Browne who had to pull out half way round. Performance of the day and making his debut was Steve Robinson who narrowly missed out on a sub 3 hour finish.
Another debutant was Janet Grint who came in under 4 hours and Jackie Crowther just over 4 hours. Also well done to James Fairfield, Elaine Helme and the evergreen Chris Byrom who has completed his 20th London Marathon.
