Whenever Andem runners put on a race you can expect a surprise or two, and quite a difficult race. Well we definitely got a tough up and down 5k in Whitworth, with which came two surprises.
Firstly, Diane Modahl the Olympic 800 metres runner turned up to race (first lady, no surprise there) and secondly she presented our own Shirley Aldridge with an achievement award (big surprise there). Paul Kenny was first ECH home followed by Graham Lawler, Ann Cherry and Sue Williamson. Shirley with Diane and the East Chesh team
Sorry Andrea
Just by way of an apology, I missed something from last month. Our own Andrea Maidment competed in the Manchester Marathon knocking 17 minutes off her personal best in 4.02.05. Congratulations and once again sorry.
While I am on the subject two other debutants to the marathon and new club members posted fantastic times, Barbara Dickinson 3.59.14 and Kath Williams 4.15.53, well done to them.

Liam on his way to 6th place
What do you really want in the middle of a heatwave? Most people would say an ice cream, but a tough 10k around Dovestone reservoir is what was served up by the Kiwi Classic boys.
Once again the club produced some excellent results with Liam Browne finishing 6th overall with Barry Hirst 2nd ECH. Janine Rdgard was our first lady with Angela Oldham second.
National Young Athletes league 20th May 2012
Match 2 of the Young Athletes League at Cleckheaton saw an improvement on our score from the first home match, again taking on a strong Trafford side and finishing 2nd. The competition is in the middle of the GCSE season which made it difficult for some of our athletes to attend.
Nevertheless there were some fantastic performances and quite a few Personal bests claimed. Athletes of the match were Paige Ditchfield for her all round performance and newcomer Max Steward who won his 100m and came second in the 200m.
The last in the series is at Trafford AC on Sunday 17th June. Again a big thanks to those officials and helpers who travelled with the team.
