The Title XIX MR/DD HCB Waiver program offers Transitional Medicaid for anyone who may not be re-certified for the program in 2008-2009. Transitional Medicaid allows for the Waiver graduate to slowly discontinue utilization of services, for a period of up to six months. It can be crucial for providers to use this time to develop alternative resources, coordinate less restrictive options, and ensure risks are prevented.
Community based behavioral health care agencies are available to support the needs of individuals who transition from the academic world of high school into the adult working world. Employees of behavioral health care centers will work to support an individuals needs, hopes and wishes, using an agreed plan of action to design a daily schedule according to individual preferences.
The West Virginia sub-committee is dedicated to exploring methods for easy transition from school to work or college. Individuals who have autism give attributes to communities which would otherwise be lacking. Initial action steps include data collection using a strengths based approach in the community to support the development of new vendors, resources, and funding mechanisms.

Emergency responders and crisis interventionists are available at your local hospitals, fire departments, police stations, and health care clinics. West Virginia has an elaborate system of community supports where help can be found especially in times of disaster. Some speciality hospitals are available for assistance for any type of behavioral health emergency.
Parent resource networks, schools and local community service agencies can link you to various agencies for counseling, public assistance, family support, utilities assistance, behavioral support, day and residential support. legal aid, financial assistance and health care. Persons who demonstrate need and have a diagnosis of significant developmental disability may be eligible for in home crisis support and positive behavioral support plan development provided by qualified practitioners.
