Beginning with the January 2011 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman, a two to three part series I wrote on the designing of a hoist house was published. You can see the hoist house on a separate webpage dedicated to my coal mine.
This article also marks a first, for me. It is my first cover in a magazine. |

In December 2009, the NMRA's Scale Rails published an article I wrote covering the Garden State Division's Youth Program.
The article covers the four activities provided during an event for children at the Sleepy Lagoon Beach in Lake Mohawk, NJ. The four activities were diorama building, structure building, weathering cars, and operations. |

In April 2009, Railroad Model Craftsman published an article I wrote that discussed the use of the computer as a tool for modeling project.
The computer was used for sharing ideas with my friend, Gerry Leone, creating decals and signs, creating model plans, prototype research, and searching for details. |

In April 2007, Railroad Model Craftsman published an article I wrote explaining how to convert an HO Bachmann doodlebug for multi-direction operations.
In this same issue, my friend Gerry Leone also had an article published. This makes the second time that both of us have had an article published in the same issue.

In the February and March 2006 issues of Railroad Model Craftsman, my article on the history and building of a coal mine fan house was published. This article was very satisfying for me since it involved researching its function and was my first foray into a highly detailed model. |

In September 2004, an article on determining the measurements for difficult roof lines was published in Railroad Model Craftsman. The spreadsheet for this article can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

In May 2003, my second article was published in Railroad Model Craftsman. The article was entitiled "An Identity Crisis". The article explained how I used a computer to create a herald, locate a font, and print the decals for a friend's model railroad. |
 |
My first article ran in the August 2000 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman. The article was co-written with another model railroad friend of mine, Richard Wehr. It is a kitbash of a Bachmann coach with Doodlebug parts ordered from Bachmann. | |
